My music production work is primarily centered in Logic Pro X, where I have built a consistent practice across solo projects, collaborative work, and production for other artists. I use Logic for recording, arrangement, editing, mixing, and mastering, with a focus on blending programmed elements and live instrumentation. I have also work in FL Studio 20 and, more intermittently, in BandLab, using them for experimentation, quick sketches, and collaboration. My production ranges from vocals over pre-made instrumentals to full productions with live instruments, and I often support artists through the full creative process from initial idea to finished master, with some work progressing towards commercial releases and radio play.

I have worked out of Soundskills Studio since September 2018, and it has become my primary base for recording, production, mentoring, and artist development. My involvement has developed from early volunteering into a self-employed role under Daniel Squires and Jamie O’Connor, and since 2024 I have run the studio independently following their departure. In this capacity, I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the space, including studio equipment, promotion, online presence, and supporting artists through the recording and production process.

My podcast and audio work has focused on producing, recording, editing, and mixing interview-led shows that document community stories and local music culture. I co-founded Brookfield Listenin’ after lockdown as a way to reconnect people and share their experiences, and I also co-founded The Preamp Project to document the history of music in Preston, from early blues and jazz through to contemporary rap, grime, and indie artists. Across both projects I was responsible for the sound, editing, and mix, and I also composed original intro music for each podcast.

My artistic work and cultural engagement are rooted in my own music and in my long-standing connection to Preston’s local music scene. I am a member of the Lancashire Music Association (LMA), and I have been active in groups such as Preston Brewtime and The UP Project, which bring local artists together to collaborate and develop their work. Through my role at Brookfield Spaceplace (the creative arts charity I co-manage with Chris Davis), I engage new and existing artists to pursue their careers, offering mentoring, studio access, and production support. I was also part of Fullmoon TV, a YouTube-based media channel that showcased artists from the north, primarily Preston, giving them a platform for their music; I appeared as an artist on the channel and worked to bring new artists into the project. Across these activities, I position myself as both a creator and a connector, using music and audio to document, support, and amplify local culture.

My experience in live location sound is still developing, but it has given me practical involvement across documentary, factual, educational, and commissioned filmed work. In most of these projects, I was responsible for recording production sound on location using a boom microphone and Tascam recorder, with a focus on capturing clean, usable dialogue in real-world shooting environments. On selected projects I also contributed to additional sound editing, mixing, and studio overdubbing.

My live sound and events work focuses on delivering reliable, high-quality audio for live performances, community events, and local gigs across Preston and the wider region. I have experience working as front-of-house and monitor engineer, setting up and running PA systems, miking instruments and vocals, and mixing live in real time under varying venue conditions. This work has taken me through small community spaces and charity events, as well as larger local gigs and festivals, where I focus on clear, balanced sound that supports both the artists and the audience. My background in studio production informs my live approach, helping me make quick, informed decisions about tone, balance, and dynamics in the moment.
